Getting Around Sydney

Bus — As in other Australian cities, adult prices start at 2.25 AUD ($1.70 USD) for off-peak travel. Times of day affect fares somewhat (there are off-peak and on-peak times).
The system
requires an Opal card (or Opal single-use card). No more than 16.10 AUD per
day, 50 AUD per week, or 8.05 AUD each weekend or public holiday using an Opal
card. You can bus hire
sydney.
Train – The City
Circle train loops around Sydney, stopping at all major stops. It's the ideal
way to see the city! Like the bus, you can pay with Opal. The light rail from
Central Station to Dulwich Hill is useful for visiting Chinatown or Darling
Harbour. Each way begins at 4 AUD ($3 USD) or 2.25 AUD ($1.70 USD). The airport
fast train costs $18.50 AUD.
Ferry – Circular
Quay has ferries to Manly, Olympic Park, and Taronga Zoo. Ferry prices start at
7.40 AUD ($5.25 USD) or 6.01 AUD ($4.28 USD) with an Opal card. You may also
buy tickets at the wharf.
Bike share — In
Sydney, you may use a smartphone app to find a bike share station and then ride
it for short distances. The average cost for 30 minutes is 2 AUD ($1.50 USD).
Automobile hire -
A compact car in Sydney costs about 60 AUD ($46 USD) per day. All the regular

Taxi - Taxis are
simple to hail yet costly. Uber has become a very popular alternative to taxis
in the city.
